Shard 2

April 26, 2025

12" wide x 15" deep x 25" tall
(31cm W x 38cm D x 63cm T)

Shard 2 is not only entertaining with lots of interesting components, but it has a great story to tell.
Shard 1 & 2 were both made in a small studio that I put together while spending time with family in Ukraine in 2025 during Russia's war on the country. Many parts have been sourced locally, such as the heavy metal sprocket from soviet farm equipment now used as the base. The brass bell was taken from an old soviet-made manual telephone and the shards of glass are from a soviet electrical insulator factory that were discarded around the 1970s or 1980s. The stainless steel is always cleaned prior to bending and welding, as well as once the sculpture is complete. In this case, I used locally-made "samohon" (home brew) for the cleaning, as it is readily available.
I hope you enjoy this sculpture and continue to follow my work.
